EMCDDA gets set for Lisbon Addictions 2022

EMCDDA staff members will be among the 1 000 speakers gathering this week in Lisbon at the European Conference on Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies (Lisbon Addictions 2022).

Under the overarching theme of ‘Global Addictions’, the event will showcase the latest scientific knowledge in this domain and explore challenges relating to illicit drugs, alcohol, tobacco, screen addiction, gambling and other addictive behaviours. It is the largest European conference in the area of addictions.

The conference, running from 23–25 November, is organised by: the Portuguese General Directorate for Intervention on Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies (SICAD); the EMCDDA; the journal Addiction/Society for the Study of Addiction (Addiction/SSA); and the International Society of Addiction Journal Editors (ISAJE). EMCDDA Director Alexis Goosdeel will deliver the opening remarks along with SICAD Director-General João Goulão.

EMCDDA presentations will cover a broad range of topics: from drug-related deaths and prevention, to prison and drugs and the medical use of cannabis. These will be delivered in various formats and settings, including plenaries, structured sessions, oral presentations and workshops. They will also be participating in a series of side events held in the margins of the main conference.

Finally, an exhibition stand at the event will showcase the latest EMCDDA products and services. Staff members will be present on the stand to guide visitors and explore customer information needs.
