Prevalence and patterns of drug use expert meeting 2020

The 2020 annual expert meeting on the EMCDDA epidemiological indicator ‘Prevalence and patterns of drug use among the general population’ (often referred to as the 'General population surveys indicator') takes place on-line on 19 and 20 May.

The meeting brings together experts from almost all EU Member States and Norway, Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) countries, Russian Federation and Switzerland.

These regular meetings on the indicator change their focus from year to year. This year particular due to the restrictions posed by COVID-19, it was decided to have a shorter online meeting, focusing on methodological developments on the indicator, how hair analysis can complement survey data,  the implementation of Random Response Technique to assess underreporting in drug use surveys and the challenges of implementing a general population survey on drugs during a pandemic.

The second day will be dedicated to the kick-off session of the European Web Survey on Drugs 2021.
