Summary
This second updated edition of the United Nation's Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Prevention Standards, published jointly with the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Standards summarise the currently available scientific evidence, describing interventions and policies that have been found to result in positive prevention outcomes and their characteristics. Concurrently, the document identifies the major components and features of an effective national drug prevention system.The authors' hope is that the Standards will assist policymakers worldwide to develop programmes, policies and systems that are an effective investment in the future of children, youth, families and communities. This publicatiion builds on and recognises the work of many other organisations including the EMCDDA as well as CCSA, CICAD, Mentor, NIDA, WHO, all of which have previously developed standards and guidelines on various aspects of drug prevention.
